(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Thursday the Biden administration released the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) plan, which would seek to curb fossil fuel-fired power plant emissions by 617 million metric tons by 2042. The plan has led to many concerns with experts worrying about the future of U.S. power grid reliability as electric power providers will be made to decrease pollution by 90 percent.
Daniel Turner, the founder and executive director of Power the Future in a Fox News Digital stated that U.S. electricity is “becoming increasingly intermittent” because of this general push to transition swiftly towards wind and solar energy sources which he claims are “unreliable and untested.”
In order for the levels of energy emissions to be reduced to the desired level, power plants will need to use carbon capture or completely shut down. In his criticisms of the plan, Turner alleged that the Biden administration did not have a “comprehensive energy plan.” He added that while the administration is pushing for individual consumers to fully switch to electric vehicles, stoves, and heaters they are also pushing to weaken the industry that produces all that electric power.
President Biden in his climate agenda which was announced in 2021 spoke about his intention for The power sector to be completely carbon pollution-free by 2035. His administration has been pushing for a switch to renewable energy sources, including wind and solar. Still, while there has been an increase in these green energy sources, they only produce around 14 percent of U.S. electricity and they are heavily dependent on the weather conditions.
