(PartiallyPolitics.com) – In the view of a Democratic analyst, the main challenge for President Joe Biden in the 2024 election is not the competition with former President Donald Trump. CNN political analyst and ex-South Carolina state representative Bakari Sellers highlighted on CNN Newsroom that the real issue for Biden is the potential lack of voter turnout.

Sellers emphasized that Biden’s challenge is to engage and motivate voters, particularly those who are currently indifferent. He pointed out that Biden needs to appeal to voters concerned about various issues, including the conflict in Gaza, to energize young voters and clarify his stance and plans to the African American community.

Even as Biden has clinched the Democratic nomination for the 2024 election, he encountered resistance during some state primaries, notably from voters critical of his stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict. Biden’s administration faced backlash for supporting Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip, particularly affecting his support in Michigan, a pivotal state he narrowly won in 2020, which has a considerable Muslim demographic.

In Michigan’s primary, over 100,000 voters chose to vote “uncommitted” in protest. Current polls show a close race between Biden and Trump, the likely Republican nominee for 2024. Cameron Easley from Morning Consult pointed out Biden’s slight lead and his competitive standing with independent voters, a group Trump previously led. Heath Brown, a City University of New York associate professor, remarked to Newsweek on the tight and potentially stable nature of this race.

An NPR/PBS/Marist poll indicated a tight margin between Biden and Trump, with 50% support for Biden and 48% for Trump. As the election approaches, the Gaza conflict remains a significant issue, with many pro-Palestinian voters urging Biden to facilitate a cease-fire in Gaza, while his relationship with Israel shows signs of strain.
