(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Former White House aide Garrett Ziegler, who is the founder of the Marco Polo website where over 125,000 emails and content from Hunter Biden’s laptop were shared, is facing a lawsuit brought forward by Biden.

On Thursday, Ziegler’s attorneys had filed a motion calling for U.S. District Judge Hernan D. Vera, to grant him a recusal. The judge had been appointed by President Joe Biden in 2023 and has previously donated over $1,600 in support of Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign.

The Central District of California courthouse has scheduled the meeting for April 25. Ziegler’s attorney has argued that their motion was not just based on the fact that Vera had been appointed by Biden or on the donations. Instead, they argue that the motion is because of the subject and facts of this litigation which could bring into question the impartiality of Judge Vera.

Ziegler’s attorneys have also pointed out the correlation between the appointment of Vera and the lawsuit. The motion argues that this litigation could have an effect on the presidential impeachment inquiry and if Judge Vera granted the injunction it was going to prevent Congress and the media from accessing the contents on the Biden Laptop. As the lawyers point out in the motion this could have an impact on the impeachment investigation.

The motion points out that any reasonable person would question if there was any bias in this case, especially considering how Judge Vera had previously made a political contribution to the 2020 presidential election campaign of President Biden. He was also only appointed to the federal court three months before the case was assigned to him.
