(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Friday, former Vice President Mike Pence was met with booing from the crowd during a major Iowa conservative gathering after he supported the U.S. sending aid to Ukraine.

Pence during a sit-down conversation with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson and claimed that the U.S. should continue to provide strong support to Ukraine against Russian forces. This became a point of contention between the two men, who hold different opinions on the matter.

Pence argued that it was in the country’s best interest to ensure that Ukraine had the military resources necessary to win against Russia and protect its sovereignty. However, Carlson, who does not agree, argued that since the United States has been supporting Ukraine many American cities have regressed. He further argued that the concern should be for the United States and not for Ukraine and whether or not they have enough American tanks.

Pence however dismissed Carlson’s argument, claiming that it was possible for them to do both.

The two got into another tense exchange after Carlson claimed that Christians in Ukraine had been prosecuted. This is something that Pence claimed to have addressed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during a recent meeting they had. Pence has been the GOP presidential candidate that has spoken most positively about providing additional aid to Ukraine. In contrast, both former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis have proposed that the U.S. should stop providing any assistance to the war-torn country.

Since Russia first attacked Ukraine in February 2022, the U.S. has provided billions of dollars in humanitarian and military aid.
