(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Former President Trump has long been claiming that the federal investigation into his alleged mishandling of classified materials was politically motivated and has claimed that it is a “witch hunt.” These are allegations that he reiterated after being indicted on 37 federal charges in connection to this probe.

On Friday, the indictment was unsealed revealing the 37 counts, which include obstruction of justice and 31 counts of willful retention of classified documents in violation of the Espionage Act. Trump has defended himself arguing that he acted in the same way that all presidents before him had. He also repeatedly stated that President Biden has not faced any charges even though classified documents were found in his possession.

In a Truth Social post on June 8, Trump had written that he was informed of his indictment over the “Boxes Hoax.” He proceeded to state that Biden had “1850 Boxes at the University of Delaware” and other boxes in Chinatown, D.C., and his parking garage. The “1850 Boxes” specifically are meant to be a reference to Biden’s documents from his time as Senator but those documents are not classified and the National Archives do not require Senators to return all documents when they leave office.

However, the President is required to return all documents, something that Trump allegedly willfully refused to do after leaving the White House in 2021. President Biden is also being investigated for the classified documents found in his house by Special Counsel Robert Hur. Not a lot of information has been revealed about the probe into Biden’s case.
