(PartiallyPolitics.com) – A new Yahoo News/ YouGov poll has shown that many Americans are not happy about the possibility that the 2024 presidential election might end up being a rematch between President Biden and former President Trump.

According to the poll, a 38 percent plurality of respondents stated that the possibility of a rematch left them feeling “exhaustion.” Twenty-nine percent of respondents instead stated that the idea of a rematch made them feel “fear” while 23 percent stated that they felt both “sadness and fear.” The number of people who described the possibility of a rematch positively was much smaller with 23 percent claiming they felt “hope,” 8 percent stated they felt “pride” and 7 percent said they felt “gratitude.”

In general, the poll showed that there isn’t a lot of enthusiasm surrounding the possible Biden-Trump rematch, which currently appears to be the most likely outcome of the 2024 primary season. Trump currently holds a strong 14-point lead over Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who has not yet announced his White House bid. Even in a head-to-head matchup, Trump is winning against DeSantis by 16 points.

For Biden on the other hand, most Democratic voters do not want to see him running again, with only 27 percent stating that they want Biden to run for reelection, and only 43 percent of Democrats or Democratic-leaning independents saying that he should be the party’s nominee.

However, according to the survey Biden is currently leading against Trump with 46 to 42 percent.
