(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Monday following a four-year-long investigation, Justice Department special counsel John Durham released his final report in which he states that the FBI did not have enough evidence to launch the Trump-Russia probe ahead of the 2016 presidential election.
Former President Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social to react to this news. As he stated, this report shows that the American public had been “scammed” by those who did not want to see the country become great again.
Durham issued a 305-page report in which he slammed the FBI for its conduct regarding this case. Trump in an interview with Fox News Digital following the FBI’s investigation stated that it was the American public that was the victim of this “Charade” which was first started by the Democrats. He added that there needed to be accountability and a price to pay by those involved in this.
In his report on Monday, Durham concluded that there was insufficient evidence for them to open an investigation. He further criticized the way that the FBI had handled certain evidence, claiming that in many ways the FBI had underperformed and had failed. He added that the most important problem was that people involved in the investigation had acted based on their own objectivity and integrity which was wrong.
Durham was appointed by then-Attorney General Bill Barr in 2019 to look into the origins of the FBI probe relating to the claims about Trump’s connection to Russia. Trump himself has repeatedly claimed that the Durham investigation would help shed light on the “crime of the century.”
