(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie has slammed his rivals in the Republican primary race Nikki Haley and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for not trying to take former President Donald Trump, who is the frontrunner of the GOP presidential race, directly on.

In an interview on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on Wednesday, Christie argued that he was the only candidate who was trying to take Trump on. He added that DeSantis and Haley were just running against each other for who would win second place.

The former New Jersey governor pointed out that in the third primary debate, the two candidates did not directly address a question about gaining the support of Trump voters. As he added Haley once again that Trump had been the right president for that time, while DeSantis defended Trump. As Christie pointed out it was impossible to win against someone that you are not directly running against.

Christie added that there was only one way to win the Republican nomination and that was “through Donald Trump.” He noted that there was no option for going around him or standing next to him, however as he pointed out he seems to be the only person who is willing to do that.

Christie then alleged that Trump had not joined the debate stage because he was there. Trump has skipped all three presidential primary debates arguing that his large lead means that he does not need to attend the debates.

While Christie has often attacked Trump throughout his campaign, other candidates are more reluctant to make such attacks.
