(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Comedian Roseanne Barr attacked President Joe Biden over allegedly funding Hamas following the war that has broken out between Israel and Hamas in Gaza.
Her attacks came after Biden recently posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, about the conflict between Israel and Hamas, which started on October 7, when the Palestinian militant group launched a surprise attack on southern Israel. In retaliation, Israel launched the heaviest-ever airstrikes on Gaza, which is under the group’s control. The Associated Press has reported that authorities in Gaza placed the death toll to at least 13,000 people. During the attack on Israel around 1,200 people died while hundreds of others were taken hostage.
Since Friday there has been a temporary cease-fire between the two sides, with Hamas having agreed to release some of the hostages, in exchange for Israel releasing Palestinian prisoners.
On Tuesday, Biden noted in his tweet that Hamas’s terrorist attack was prompted by the group fearing “nothing more than Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace.” He added that continuing with the war was what the group wanted, which is not what they should do.
Barr proceeded to respond to the post by alleging that the thing Hamas feared the most was “Jews living” and suggested that perhaps it was time for them to not fund them with billions of dollars.
Reuters has reported that the funding for Hamas comes from business taxes, and funding from other countries like Qatar and Iran as well as other charities. However, Israel received around $3.8 billion in U.S. aid each year.
