(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Tuesday, Gov. Greg Abbot (R-TX.) argued that the installation of barriers across the state’s southern border was going to continue. This is despite the recent Supreme Court ruling which gave the Biden administration the right to remove the razor wire that Texas has installed across the border.
The Court’s decision to back the federal administration has also led to several Republicans voicing their support for the Texas governor and the actions he is taking. Abbott in his own comments has promised that the fight was “not over” and in a statement claimed that his state had the right “to self-defense.”
Tension between federal and state units in Texas remains after President Joe Biden’s administration
In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, the Texas governor claimed that his state was going to continue with the installation of additional barriers along the border which would also help ensure that no one else messed with Texas. He added that migrant crossings have been reduced because of the measures he has taken and that there are now more border crossings in California and Arizona.
Apart from additional razor wire barriers, Abbott is also intending to deploy more National Guard members to help in the border area in an attempt to double their efforts against illegal entry into the state.
Despite the ruling by the Supreme Court, Abbott has continued to allow the razor wire that separates Shelby Park from the Rio Grande River close to Eagle Pass. This is one of the spots with the heaviest traffic as many people attempt to cross into the United States from that area.
