(PartiallyPolitics.com) – On Saturday former Florida GOP lawmaker David Jolly accused Florida Governor Ron DeSantis of being involved in “some type of public corruption” over his “war” with Disney.

Earlier this week, DeSantis announced new legislation which would once again target Disney World, in continuation of his more than a yearlong feud with the company. Last year, Disney opposed Florida’s so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill that blocked instruction of sexual orientation and gender identity in state schools for children until the third grade.

DeSantis is widely suspected to be preparing to launch a presidential candidate for 2024. However, so far, he has placed a lot of his focus on targeting the Reedy Creek Improvement District, an agreement that previously granted Disney’s right to self-govern in its theme parks. On Tuesday, DeSantis announced new legislation which could completely revoke the previous agreement. He further claimed that he might build a prison in the land near the park.

Jolly, who represented a competitive congressional district near St. Petersburg from 2014 to 2017, left the Republican Party after openly criticizing former president Trump. In his recent statement, he criticized DeSantis for his feud with Disney during an appearance on MSNBC’s The Katie Phang Show. Jolly accused DeSantis of corruption as he was targeting a specific corporation.

However, DeSantis has frequently defended his actions claiming that Disney should not get any special treatment over other Florida businesses. Jolly however has claimed that DeSantis’ anti-Disney position and actions are about “vanity and vengeance.”
