(PartiallyPolitics.com) – In a new Harvard CAPS-Harris poll former President Trump appears to take the lead against President Biden by 7 points.

The new survey came out on Friday and was shared with The Hill. The poll also found that Biden and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) appeared to tie in a hypothetical head-to-head matchup. The results further showcase Trump’s prominence as DeSantis is preparing to enter the presidential race next week.

Trump is also leading against DeSantis in all GOP primary polls. In this particular survey, he was shown to hold a 47 percent lead against DeSantis. Both Trump and Biden according to this poll would be their parties’ respective candidates.

In the matchup between Biden and DeSantis, 42 percent picked each of the candidates, while 16 percent stated that they were unsure of who they would select. In another hypothetical matchup between Biden and former U.N. ambassador Nikki Haley, Biden managed a narrow lead of 40 percent over Haley’s 38 percent.

Mark Penn, the co-director of the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll, stated that the environment in which DeSantis will be launching his campaign now is much tougher than the one a few months ago, and that most people do not believe that he can pose a “serious challenge” against Trump. DeSantis has not yet announced his presidential bid, but he is believed to be preparing to announce his bid next week. In most GOP primary race polls, he gets second place.

Trump is widely seen as the GOP front runner and many expect the 2024 presidential race to be another matchup between Trump and Biden.
