(PartiallyPolitics.com) – Earlier in the week, Secret Service officers responded to an incident near the residence of Vice President Harris and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff in Washington, D.C. According to reports the Secret Service was at the scene following reports of a possible gunshot.

Lt. Paul Mayhair of the Secret Service in a statement noted that the officers arrived at the scene, near the Naval Observatory after it was reported that a single gunshot had been heard at around 1:30 a.m. So far, there have been no reported injuries nor any information to indicate that the shooting was directed toward either the vice president or the Naval Observatory. Mahair has also stated that all the roads close to the residence were blocked off as the Secret Service finished its investigation.

The Naval Observatory, in the Northwest quadrant of Washington, is located around 2 miles northwest of the White House and it is heavily secured by the Secret Service.

Both Harris and Emhoff were not in Washington at the time of the incident and as such were not staying in their residence at the Naval Observatory. Instead, the two of them had spent the weekend in Los Angeles, where Harris is set to stay until Monday.

On Monday, Harris is set to tape an episode of the Jennifer Hudson show, while also going around and touring a local business that is focused on the promotion of clean energy.
