37 STATES SCHEDULED TO PLAY FALL HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL

Are you ready for some high school football? As it stands right now, 37 states have starting dates set for the 2020 season with another six scheduled to play spring football; seven other states have yet to determine whether they will play football in the fall or move to the spring.

MaxPreps reports that this is where things stand as of Monday. In Tennessee, it was announced Tuesday Governor Bill Lee signed an executive order allowing for contact sports to resume, which was obviously well received by coaches. “I’m excited. In the sport of football, you can only do so much at practice without contact. You can only go against air so much before it becomes monotonous. To have this and to know we can have a season, not a shortened season, gives us hope,” University School of Jackson football coach Michael Stroup told the Tennessean.

Last week, Ralph Potter, a high school football coach at McCallie High School in Chatanooga, Tennessee wrote a letter on why kids need both school and sports to return. In his letter, he wrote: “What these young people lose, they will never get back, and the longer this goes on, the more catastrophic the loss becomes.”

Remember, these dates are subject to change.
