David DePape, the man who has been charged with entering the house of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and attacking her husband with a hammer was allegedly also planning on targeting Hunter Biden, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, and actor Tom Hanks according to the police officer who interviewed him.
San Francisco Police Lt. Carla Hurley testified in court on Wednesday that DePape during their hour-long interview had disclosed his target list to her. According to an earlier court filing, DePape had also named many of the “prominent” state and federal politicians, their relatives, and even a local professor as potential targets, but had not identified everyone on his target list.
As part of Wednesday’s preliminary hearing, prosecutors played around 17 minutes of Hurley’s interview in order to decide whether there would be enough evidence for a trial on six counts to be held against DePape.
As part of the clip of the interview played, DePape who attacked the Pelosi household while Nancy Pelosi was in Washington, D.C. said that he had “other targets.”
Based on the preliminary hearing the judge determined that there was enough evidence for them to move forward with a trial against DePape who has been indicted on federal charges of attempted kidnapping and assault.
There are also a number of state charges filed against him, including “attempted murder, residential burglary, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, false imprisonment of an elder, and threats to a public official and their family.”
DePape has pleaded not guilty to all those charges.
