For the past several years, America has been plagued by a huge and deadly opioid epidemic. According to the CDC:
- Around 68% of the more than 70,200 drug overdose deaths in 2017 involved an opioid.
- In 2017, the number of overdose deaths involving opioids (including prescription opioids and illegal opioids like heroin and illicitly manufactured fentanyl) was 6 times higher than in 1999.
- On average, 130 Americans die every day from an opioid overdose.
As a result of the opioid epidemic, many communities have provided first responders with doses of Narcan in an effort to save as many lives as possible. I recall hearing on the local news earlier this year that first responders in the general Cincinnati area had responded to over 3 dozen reported opioid overdoses in a single 24 hour period and Cincinnati is not alone in this tragic epidemic.
The opioid epidemic has become a major political issue for many politicians, but the blame has been clearly divided upon which side of the political spectrum one is.
A number of Republicans have been blaming the opioid epidemic on manufacturing of illegal drugs such as meth, heroin and fentanyl here in the United States and the flood of these drugs flowing across our southern border.
Most Democrats are blaming the pharmaceutical companies and trying to pass laws and push lawsuits to hold these companies libel for the opioid epidemic.
So, who is to blame for the opioid epidemic?
With current findings, even far-left CNN was forced to report the truth:
Fentanyl remains the deadliest drug in the United States. But in some areas of the country, methamphetamine kills more people.
A new report from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics found that fentanyl is the drug most commonly identified in fatal overdoses. In 2017, fentanyl was associated with 38.9% of all drug overdose deaths, an increase from 2016, when it was associated with 29% of all fatal overdoses. This is the second year that CDC analyzed fatal overdoses in this way.
In 2017, heroin was associated with 22.8% of all fatal overdoses. Cocaine, a stimulant, was involved in 21.3% and methamphetamine, also a stimulant, was involved in 13.3%.
Please note that the pharmaceutical companies do NOT manufacture meth or the deadly fentanyl found on the streets.
So, why are Democrats so dead set on blaming the pharmaceutical companies instead of the real sources?
Simple – it has NOTHING to do with drugs or overdoses. Look back on the Democrats for the past decade or so and you will find that they have systematically attacked most major industries in the United States except the auto industry and there is a good reason why the auto industry has been spared. They are controlled by one of the largest and most powerful socialist labor unions in the country and those unions tend to be very loyal to the socialist Democrats.
Socialist Democrats need to tear down most of the major business and financial institutions in order to establish their socialist government.
Secondly, ask yourself why Democrats have been systematically trying to legalize as many drugs, such as marijuana and eliminate drug-related criminal charges? They have also worked hard to decriminalize and normalize many longtime moral taboos such as homosexuality and more. All of these help tear down the core fundamental values America was built upon.
Thirdly, Democrats have been working hard to open the border and protect illegal aliens. To lay the blame on the huge amounts of illegal drugs crossing the border into America would be to target the very future voters they have been working so hard to protect.
On the flip side, many Republicans are trying to close the border and stop illegal aliens and illegal drugs from entering the country, but they are constantly being blocked by socialist Democrats. Republicans are trying to block illegal drugs for the sake and welfare of the American people while Democrats continue to blame and fight pharmaceutical companies to advance their socialist agenda without any regard or concern for the American people.
Remember this when you go to the polls.
