A 15-year-old Alaska boy shot dead three of his siblings — the youngest aged 5 — before turning the gun on himself while their parents were away Tuesday, authorities said.

Alaska State Troopers said they received a call from a neighbor of shots fired at a home near Fairbanks at around 4:17 p.m. Wednesday.

Responding troopers entered the residence, surrounded by rusted out vehicles, children’s bikes and clutter, and discovered inside four children dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police said the investigation revealed that a 15-year-old boy shot dead three of his siblings, ages 5, 18 and 17, before fatally shooting himself.

The victims have not been named as of Thursday afternoon.

No motive has been determined.

Troopers spokesperson Tim DeSpain said the gun was a “family gun but beyond that, it’s all still part of the ongoing investigation.”

Three other siblings, all under the age of 7, were at the home at the time but were not injured, police said. No parents were home at the time of the grisly slayings.

The state Office of Children’s Services had been notified of the deadly incident, cops said.

Clinton Bennett, a spokesperson for the state Department of Family and Community Services, under which the office falls, said by email that the office “will not provide any information due to rules and regulations involving the confidentiality of all involved in specific cases.”
